North to Alaska...

So I had the chance to go up to Alaska for a work trip last week! What an amazing place! I can't believe it's part of the United States. The landscape is so diverse and beautiful.

While I was there I spent the weekend in Denali National Park. It was such a treat! I'm not one for taking solo vacations, but it was lovely! I would have loved to have my Lance with me though. Being in Alaska reminded me of the book Into the Wild, where Chris Mccandless goes into the forest (?) of Alaska to live off of the land. He ends up dying alone and in his journal he wrote "Happiness is only real when shared". I was only alone for a couple days haha and now that I'm reading this it seems dramatic for me to relate, but I definitely agree with him!

Anyways, I had a great time going hiking and taking pictures. Some below if you care to see...

^^This river (I think it was called the Nenana) was right outside of my room!

^^The first night I drove into the park and went for a little hike. The nature is like a fairy forest land! So much moss! And the mushrooms!

^^Pretty view at the top of the hike

^^Beaver dam!

The next day I took a shuttle into the park. This place was AMAZING! The only way I can think to describe it is diverse and WILD.

^^Fall colors starting to pop!

^^GRIZZLY BEAR ON THE ROAD! It was incredible to see such a beautiful, wild, enormous animal in real life.

^^I'm out of focus, but I love the mountains in the back! Especially the one on the left, it looks like a volcano!

^^As the morning went on the sky started to clear. The white mountain is Mt. Mckinley!

^^The shuttle bus! My seat was on the wheel, reminded me of field trips back in elementary school.

^^Was definitely a little nervous going back...

^^LOOK AT THIS MUSHROOM! It looks like coral!

^^Oh hey little marmot!

^^Prancer the reindeer just going for a stroll

^^Heart mushroom <3

^^Took a hike for a couple hours around the park. I was feeling great, then I heard a noise, realized I was completely alone, got scared and turned around haha. Wasn't in the mood to be eaten by a bear.
^^Got to see this awesome pipeline that spans the entire state of Alaska! What an engineering marvel!

^^I only know what these are because of my reality TV guilty pleasure, Gold Rush.

Had THE BEST fish and chips I've ever had. Fresh Halibut, you can't beat it!

^^This is my "I'm driving in Alaska and listening to country music and actually enjoying it" selfie

^^This is my "I'm completely alone and I hope I don't die" selfie

^^Shuttle ticket!

^^You can see glaciers from the airplane!

^^On my way driving back from Denali I took a trip to North Pole, AK! Didn't even know it was an actual city!! They had a cute little santa shop.

So glad I got to go, yay work trips!
