Winter 2015 semester is officially DONEZO! In one year from now I'll be graduating with my M.S. Seems so soon! But also not soon enough... haha
I had an exciting weekend! Last minute my mother-in-law drove down and took us to see Almost Tango by Ballet West in Salt Lake. It was great!! It wasn't the typical 'swan lake' ballet that you typically think of, very modern and fun to watch.
On Saturday I went on a field trip (yes, college students still go on field trips) to see some cool geology and earthquake retrofitting in the Salt Lake Capitol building.
Below is a picture of the Wasatch Fault (the ridge part). 80% of Utahns live on the fault and it's due for an earthquake pretty soon! Yikes!
We were right by this beautiful glacial valley. This picture doesn't do it justice. The trees were yellow, the sky was blue and the sun was shining. I love Spring.
We met with an engineer who worked on the seismic retro-fit of the 100-year old Salt Lake Capitol building. It was a crazy awesome project. Lots of time and lots of creativity.
The inside of the building was SO PRETTY! Everything is marble! It reminded me of St. Peter's Basilica a little bit...just a little haha.
The coolest part of the seismic retro-fit was the installation of these base-isolators. They're these giant rubber cylinders that support the building. In the case of an earthquake, the isolators significantly reduce the amount of motions felt in the building.
In other news...
MY HUSBAND IS A GENIUS! FOR REAL!
Check out this website he worked on this week:
Amazing amirite?

Second to Disneyland, my favorite place in the whole wide world is Rancho Market. They have tons of produce for WAYYY cheaper than other grocery stores.
They had Taro root on sale, so I decided to buy one! My plan is to recreate a boba smoothie, without the boba.
They also had these delicious ripe mangos. Lance even said they looked really good, which is saying something because he's a total mango snob.
I guess eating mangos straight off of the tree in the Amazon rainforest for two years will do that to you;]

Happy Earth Day!
